My focus in Tuscany this Summer was to shoot Street and to avoid standard tourist pics, but well, what can you do when you see a sky like this. I shot this for HDR (I tried a bracketed series even), but on second thoughts, I thought why would I do that? So, this is
No HDR, No Tonemapping I must say that I was skeptical about Pisa, seeing it as one of the worst touristic clichés ever and I postponed going there for quite some time, but I was wrong, it was awesome. Not because there happens to be a leaning tower (I could mention you four more of those from the top of my head), but because of the architecture. The real star for me is the cathedral, with it's Byzantine-Arabian-local Romanesque influenced interior, which - Tardis-like - manages to look bigger than the exterior. The complex shows that, although Pisa is a provincial backwater now, at one time the Pisans had a reason to feel like they were living in the Tokyo or London of their age. Photoshop CS3, curves, perspective. I dedicate this to all my friends and watchers who sent me on my way with the best of wishes, and whom I genuinely missed even amidst visions like the above. Thanks, DC! -- "STREET" is great fun, but it's NOT pics of empty streets, your feet on the pavement, graffiti, traffic lights, ten poses of your girlfriend, or buildings without people. More info --> [link] Beautiful image!
-- Street photography is NOT a photograph of an empty street, traffic lights or graffiti. Somehow it bothers me that the complex isn't admired for the things that make it really unique and special. -- "STREET" is great fun, but it's NOT pics of empty streets, your feet on the pavement, graffiti, traffic lights, ten poses of your girlfriend, or buildings without people. You WILL take a photograph of the Leaning Tower of Pisa! You WILL NOT pose in the cliché tourist fashion! You WILL appreciate the structure in it's entirety! Failure is not an option! -- Street photography is NOT a photograph of an empty street, traffic lights or graffiti. Ik ben in 2002 in Pisa geweest, en ook ik vond het een reuze leuke plek. Ik vind de doopvont ook prachtig.
