Heroes by EricForFriends Heroes by EricForFriends
Lille/Rijsel, France.

On some holiday, I was wandering through a quiet Lille and ran into a rollerskater race. At the time, I was fascinated by the pattern of the legs fanning out as the skaters turned the corner at breakneck speed. Seeing it back later, the expression on the skaters' faces reminds me of old sports photos, back in the days when retiring sports heroes didn't become mediastars or fashion icons, but simply returned to the places where they came from to run a farm or a tobacco shop. But then, like these skaters, they were 'only' amateurs...

Tech Notes
My first experiments in tone mapping/fake-HDR, whatever you want to call it. I had a good time.

Dedicated to my friend and namesake Eric, fellow journalist and photographer, who showed me some of the best things in Lille

Thank you for featuring! :woohoo:

It took 1/500 sec TV to freeze their motion, if you need any proove that they weren't going any slower because of it. :D But their movement was kind of orchestrated and ballet-like, these were people who knew what they were doing. :D
Thanks! :D

Yes, that's a side effect of the manipulation that I did, it brings out details and texture, so people seem frozen like statues.
