Florence/Firenze, Piazza dei Cimatori, September 2009.
We've never had trouble with crime at all in Florence, but this elderly couple wasn't so lucky. I love the dramatic facial expressions, it's like looking at an Italian Baroque painting - don't miss the figure near the righthand edge.

From my Tuscany book: [link] Look up this spot in Google Earth-Streetview (first search for "Florence, Piazza de' Cimatori" and then click on camera "Via del Canto all Quarconia / Via Dante Alighieri) and look for the differences. The Google picture is a little bit older in time, but taken later in the day: the shop still carries the "Tabacchi" letters of the previous owner, it has been shut down (perhaps with a foreclosure sign next to the door, but that has been blurred out by Google) and the souvenir kiosque carries a 'For sale' sign.
Corel Paintshop Pro XII, curves, cropping (top right 2/3 of the picture).Fullview advised! Thank you.
